Welcome to Clyde North GP Training
Welcome to Glasgow Clyde North GP Training Programme. We are a small group of dedicated GP trainers, providing a bespoke, highly regarded training programme for GP trainees in the West of Scotland.

The Glasgow Clyde North area offers attractive outdoor opportunities, beautiful scenery and clean, fresh air. There are outstanding landscapes and experiences, including Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. The area is easily commutable from Glasgow/surrounding areas, but provides an opportunity to practice outside of “the big city”. This means a more rural experience with the convenience of urban living. Many of our GPs, colleauges and trainees commute easily from Bearsden, Glasgow City Centre, Newton Mearns and many other areas around Glasgow.
We have practices within the Vale of Leven, Dumbarton and Helensburgh. Each practice is led by an experienced and dynamic training team. The training programme is run by Dr Mary Jo Coffield (TPD). There are regular teaching sessions and there is an emphasis on humanities/realistic medicine. There are also links to the local naval base (Faslane) which can provide further training opportunities for interested trainees.
Despite being a smaller area, we have BIG ideas and BIG successes. So much so that many of our previous trainees choose to stay and work in the area as it is hard to find another like it.
So, if you want to train in a beautiful environment to become an outstanding GP, whilst enjoying a semi-rural experience with the convenience of the city nearby, then Glasgow Clyde North is for you.
